Client Care Guide: What to Expect at The Zen Den

What makes The Zen Den different from other spas?

The Zen Den specializes in high-altitude skin health, barrier repair, and holistic facial treatments. Every service is customized to your skin’s current season, lifestyle, and environment—never rushed, never cookie-cutter.

Do I need a consultation before booking?

A full skin consultation is included with every facial. If you’re unsure which service to book, choose the service "I don't know what to book" and we’ll guide the rest.

How early should I arrive?

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in and complete any necessary forms. Late arrivals may shorten your treatment time to respect the next client.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In our desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored: Cancellations or Rescheduling within 24 hours. Please give a 24 hour notice if you must cancel or reschedule an appointment. We do have a cancellation list, and this allows us to get that time filled for someone waiting for that appointment. If you fail to give a 24hour notice, you will be charged a $25 inconvenience fee. No Show - Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged 50% for their “missed” appointment. Late Arrivals If you arrive late, your session may be shortened or rescheduled.

Can I wear makeup to my appointment?

Yes. Makeup will be professionally removed during your treatment. If you’re coming straight from work or an event, no worries at all.

Are your treatments safe for sensitive skin?

Absolutely. We prioritize barrier repair and skin resilience. Always disclose sensitivities, allergies, or medical conditions so your treatment can be safely customized.

Do you treat acne, aging, and pigmentation?

Yes. We treat acne, congestion, inflammation, fine lines, sun damage, dehydration, and compromised barriers using progressive, skin-respecting protocols.

How should I prepare my skin before my facial?

• Avoid exfoliation or retinoids 3–5 days prior

• Avoid sunburn or tanning

• Pause active acne treatments unless advised otherwise

• Stay hydrated

Should I stop using retinol or acids before my treatment?

Yes. Stop retinoids, exfoliating acids, and strong actives 3–5 days before your appointment unless instructed otherwise by your esthetician.

Can I receive a facial if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Many treatments are safe, but some modalities and ingredients are not recommended. Please inform us when booking so we can tailor your service.

What medical conditions should I disclose?

Please disclose:

• Pregnancy or breastfeeding

• Autoimmune conditions

• Recent cosmetic injections

• Active skin infections or rashes

• Medications like Accutane (past 6–12 months)

What should I expect after my skin treatment?

Your skin may appear:

• Hydrated and glowing

• Slightly pink (normal)

• Calm but actively regenerating

Results continue to improve over the next 24–72 hours.

Can I wear makeup after my treatment?

We recommend waiting 12–24 hours, especially after exfoliation or corrective treatments, to allow the skin barrier to reset.

How should I care for my skin after my treatment?

• Avoid heat, steam, workouts, and sun for 24 hours

• Use gentle, hydrating skincare

• Wear SPF daily

• Avoid exfoliation for 3–5 days

You’ll receive personalized aftercare guidance at your appointment.

How often should I get facials?

Most clients see best results with treatments every 4–6 weeks, aligned with the skin’s natural renewal cycle and seasonal needs.

Is redness or peeling normal?

Mild redness is normal and temporary. Peeling may occur after corrective treatments and is part of the skin renewal process when properly guided.

Do your treatments hurt?

Most treatments are relaxing and comfortable. Some corrective services may cause mild tingling or warmth, which is always monitored and adjusted.

How many treatments will I need to see results?

Some results are immediate, while others build over time. Skin transformation is cumulative—consistency is key.

Can I combine treatments?

Yes. Many treatments are intentionally layered to enhance results while protecting the skin barrier.

Do I need professional products at home?

Home care is essential. Professional treatments without proper home care slow progress. We guide you toward simple, effective routines, never overloading your skin.

Do you sell the products you use?

Yes. We carry curated skincare designed to support long-term skin health, barrier repair, and environmental resilience.

Can I purchase products without an appointment?

Absolutely. You can shop in-spa, order online (Turoā tab), or arrange local pickup.

Do you offer packages or memberships?

Yes. Memberships and packages are designed for consistency, savings, and long-term results. Use them with Skin Therapists Kaydence and Mariah.

Is tipping expected?

Gratuity is always appreciated but never required. Exceptional care is our standard—not dependent on tips.

What if I’m nervous or new to facials?

You’re in the right place. We move at your pace, explain everything, and prioritize your comfort and trust above all else.
